Plagiarism Policy

Ukanus: Indonesian Journal of Economics and Business upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism. Every manuscript submitted to the journal will be screened for originality using reliable plagiarism detection software (such as Turnitin or iThenticate) before entering the peer-review process.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism involves presenting another person’s ideas, words, data, or creative expressions as one’s own without proper acknowledgment. It includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, figures, or tables from other works without citation.

  • Paraphrasing substantial portions of another’s work without credit.

  • Using research data or results from other authors without permission.

  • Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal (duplicate submission).

  • Self-plagiarism, or reusing one’s previously published work without proper citation or justification.

2. Similarity Threshold

Manuscripts with a similarity index above 20% (excluding references and common phrases) will be automatically returned to the author for revision or rejected outright.

3. Detection and Verification

  • All manuscripts are checked using plagiarism detection tools before review.

  • If plagiarism is detected during the review or after publication, the editorial board will conduct an investigation.

  • Authors may be asked to provide clarification or evidence of originality.

4. Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is confirmed, the following actions will be taken:

  • Immediate rejection of the manuscript (if unpublished).

  • Notification sent to the author’s institution or funding agency.

  • A ban on future submissions to the journal for a specified period.

5. Author Responsibility

Authors are fully responsible for ensuring the originality of their work. By submitting a manuscript to Ukanus, authors affirm that:

  • The manuscript is their original work.
