Publication Ethics

Ukanus: Indonesian Journal of Economics and Business is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in publishing and to ensuring that all parties involved — authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers — adhere to ethical principles of academic integrity. This statement is based on the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines.

1. Duties of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submitted work is original and free from plagiarism, fabrication, or falsification. Authors must:

  • Submit only original works that have not been published or submitted elsewhere.

  • Properly acknowledge all sources of data, information, and references.

  • Ensure that authorship is limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the research.

  • Disclose any conflicts of interest that could affect the interpretation of results.

  • Cooperate with editors in responding to comments and revising manuscripts when necessary.

  • Notify the editor immediately if a significant error or inaccuracy is discovered after publication.

2. Duties of Editors

Editors are responsible for maintaining the academic quality and integrity of the journal. Editors must:

  • Make fair and impartial decisions on submitted manuscripts based solely on academic merit, without discrimination regarding gender, race, religion, or nationality.

  • Ensure a transparent and confidential peer-review process.

  • Maintain confidentiality of author and reviewer identities (double-blind review).

  • Prevent any conflict of interest involving editorial decisions.

  • Take appropriate actions in response to proven ethical misconduct (e.g., plagiarism or data manipulation), including corrections or retractions.

3. Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers play a vital role in maintaining the quality of published research. Reviewers must:

  • Conduct reviews objectively and provide constructive, evidence-based feedback.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all materials received for review.

  • Refrain from using unpublished information for personal benefit.

  • Notify the editor if they recognize any conflict of interest or if they feel unqualified to assess a manuscript.

  • Identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors.

4. Duties of the Publisher

As the publisher, Ukanus: Indonesian Journal of Economics and Business ensures that:

  • All publication processes comply with internationally accepted standards of academic publishing ethics.

  • The editorial board is equipped to handle ethical issues and maintain the journal’s integrity.

  • The journal promotes an open-access policy to support the free exchange of knowledge.

  • Corrections, retractions, or clarifications are made when necessary to preserve the scholarly record.

5. Ethical Oversight

The journal maintains strict oversight of ethical practices. In cases of suspected misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, duplicate submission, data falsification, or authorship disputes), the editorial team will conduct a thorough investigation following COPE procedures. If ethical violations are confirmed, the journal will take appropriate corrective actions, including article retraction and author notification to affiliated institutions.

6. Conflict of Interest Policy

All parties involved in the publication process must disclose any relationships or interests that could influence the objectivity of their work. Editors and reviewers must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where such conflicts exist.

7. Transparency and Accountability

Ukanus strives to ensure that all editorial decisions and review processes are transparent, fair, and accountable. The journal welcomes corrections, clarifications, or retractions whenever necessary to maintain scholarly integrity and reader trust.
