Author Guidelines
Ukanus: Indonesian Journal of Economics and Business
Ukanus: Indonesian Journal of Economics and Business is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research papers, conceptual discussions, and case studies in the fields of economics, business, management, and Islamic finance. This guideline aims to assist authors in preparing manuscripts that meet the publication standards and ethical principles of the journal.
1. Focus and Scope
Ukanus welcomes original manuscripts addressing, but not limited to, the following topics:

2. Types of Manuscripts Accepted
The journal accepts several types of papers:

Research Articles: Empirical studies using quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods.

Conceptual Papers: Theoretical and literature-based analyses proposing new models or frameworks.
-
Case Studies: In-depth studies of specific business or economic cases.
-
Book Reviews (optional): Critical reviews of recently published books related to economics or business.
3. Language and Writing Style

Manuscripts must be written in English that is grammatically correct and clear.
-
Authors are encouraged to use academic English and ensure logical flow and coherence.
-
Before submission, manuscripts should be checked using language editing tools (e.g., Grammarly) or professional proofreaders.
4. Manuscript Format
-
Length: 5,000–8,000 words, including references.
-
Font: Times New Roman, size 12 pt, line spacing 1.5.
-
Page setup: A4, margins 2.5 cm on all sides.
-
File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) only.
-
Paragraphs must be justified with no indentation.
5. Manuscript Structure
Manuscripts should follow this structure:
a. Title
-
Concise and informative, not exceeding 15 words.
-
Written in title case, reflecting the core idea of the paper.
b. Author Information
-
Full names of all authors (without academic titles).
-
Institutional affiliations and active email addresses.
-
Indicate the corresponding author with an asterisk (*) and provide a contact email.
c. Abstract and Keywords
-
The abstract must be written in English, consisting of 150–250 words.
-
It should summarize the research background, objectives, methods, results, and implications.
-
Provide 3–5 relevant keywords, separated by semicolons (;).
d. Introduction
-
Clearly describe the research background, problem statement, research gap, objectives, and contribution.
-
Include a concise review of relevant literature to position the study within the academic context.
e. Literature Review / Theoretical Framework
-
Discuss relevant theories, previous studies, and conceptual frameworks.
-
Clearly show how the current study extends, supports, or challenges existing knowledge.
f. Research Methodology

Describe the research design, data sources, population and sample, instruments, data collection techniques, and analysis methods.
-
For qualitative studies, include details of data triangulation and validity checks.
g. Results and Discussion
-
Present the research findings systematically using tables, figures, or graphs when necessary.
-
Interpret and discuss results in light of the existing theories or prior studies.
h. Conclusion and Recommendations
-
Summarize the main findings concisely.
-
Highlight theoretical and practical implications.
-
Provide recommendations for future research.
i. References

At least 80% of the references should come from recent scholarly journals (within the last 10 years).

Follow the APA (7th Edition) citation style.

6. Publication Ethics

Submitted manuscripts must be original works and not under consideration elsewhere.

The similarity index (checked via Turnitin or iThenticate) must not exceed 20%.
-
Proper citation and acknowledgment of all sources are mandatory.
-
Authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to adhere to COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) standards.
7. Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process by at least two independent reviewers.
-
The editorial team reserves the right to make minor editorial changes without affecting the substance of the manuscript.

The final decision (acceptance, revision, or rejection) is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on reviewers’ recommendations.
8. Publication Fees

Submission Fee: Free of charge.

Article Processing Charge (APC): Free (temporarily waived).
-
No additional fees for proofreading, editing, or online publication.
9. Copyright and License
-
Copyright of all published articles remains with the author(s).
-
Authors grant the publisher the right to first publication and online distribution.

All published works are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0), allowing sharing and adaptation with proper attribution.
